Still fighting

Jeff seems to be holding his own. He is having lots of swelling from his knee all the way down to his feet. Sometimes it is uncomfortable for him to wear his shoes. Hospice is trying to manage Jeff's pain, but he still is in lots of pain most of the time. We have a wheelchair now, so that he can get out a bit more often than he did before. It seems the pain is worse for him when he is walking or standing. He is on five different kinds of pain medications.
The hospice nurse comes to visit three times a week now. She drew blood this morning to see if Jeff could have a procedure called paracentesis done. They have to make sure that his blood is not too thin. Paracentesis is an image-guided procedure that allows for draining of the fluid in Jeff's abdominal area to hopefully alleviate some of the pain.
This procedure can be repeated as wanted/needed for relief. There are some risks associated with it, so just because Jeff can have the procedure done doesn't mean that he will decide to have it done.
That is the latest for now.
