Update

Jeff is at home and was released from the hospital on Friday. He is doing much better. He still has a low-grade fever off and on, but nothing compared to what he had before. He was given antibiotics every six hours thru IV and two units of blood as he was anemic. He is continuing a different IV antibiotic therapy everyday on an outpatient basis until Friday and then Dr. Ekram (oncologist) will reevaluate to see if he will continue.
His MRI of his head came back fine and they did chest x-rays that were fine. His wound has been draining more, but we visited with Dr. Smith (surgeon) today and said that he was not concerned. He said that based on the draining the mesh is probably infected.
Jeff's appetite has gotten better, but it is not back to what it was. He is still weak, but is better than last week.
There was talk of hospice last week, but with his great response to the antibiotics we are putting that on hold at this point. Jeff's pain is under control for the most part. I will post another update if anything changes.
