On March 26 we got updated results from a CT Jeff had done the day before. The news was not good. There are several places in Jeff's abdominal area that is showing cancer. Jeff had scans just a few months ago and nothing was showing up. I asked the oncologist what her opinion was since all the spots have started to show up now. She felt that the cancer was growing fast. While no one can predict how long Jeff has, I asked the oncologist, based on her experience, how long she thought Jeff had. She answered with two months.
Jeff has been battling pain for some time now and he began home-based hospice March 31. We are hopeful that hospice will help with pain management so he can get out to do more things. Jeff now has a wheelchair, so he can spend more time outside. He still has pain, but it seems that walking and standing make his pain skyrocket.
We are happy and grateful to have the wheelchair.
The oncologist told us that there is one agent that was approve by the FDA last year that Jeff could try, but she was not hopeful because it is in the same family of one of the agents in his most recent chemo regiment. At this point Jeff has decided against any further treatments and just wants to enjoy what time he has left here.
