Results from endoscopy

Jeff's initial digestive health treatment appointment was a consultation, so the endoscopy was completed Friday the 22nd. There was no sign of cancer, but they discovered a few minor other things. Jeff has a hiatal hernia, which is a where the stomach goes up into the esophagus. Here is a Web site that describes it more in depth: http://www.drvergilio.com/hiatal_hernia.htm. The doctor said that nexium is doing its job and he should continue that along with some other lifestyle changes.
In addition to the hernia, the endoscopy found that Jeff's lining at the beginning of his small intestines was not smooth like it should be, but it was granulated. The doctor took a biopsy of it, but thinks there is strong possibility of it being coelic disease. This disease is more like an allergy to gluten. Gluten is found in wheat, barley and rye. Here is a Web site about it: http://netdoctor.co.uk.disease/facts/glutenallergy.htm. This is a hereditary disease and one of the primary symptoms of this disease is anemia. We will not have the results back for about a week.
The day of Jeff's neurological appointment he started feeling ill, so it has been rescheduled for Oct. 11 10am.

Update

Jeff's last oncology appointment was Aug. 28. I have updated his appointment calendar which you can view clicking on a link from his Web site www.geocitiies.com/beatingcancer. His CT came back with no changes. Dr. C. was worried about his blood results, so we are going to different doctor's this month. Jeff is anemic and based on some iron tests he was little low on iron, but Dr. C. doesn't think that this is the sole reason for his anemia. There is a possibility of some internal bleeding and that is what the Dr. appointment on the 14th is for. They are going to complete an endocscopy of the esophagus and upper intestines. On the 18th Jeff will see a neurologist about the numbness in his hands and feet. He had an MRI completed at LMH Sept. 8 to try to see what it causing the intense pain in his back. If anyone knows of any good pain management places please drop a line here, so I can follow up with them. Other than that Jeff seems to be doing good and we will see Dr. C. Sept. 28 for a follow-up to all the tests.
