CT Update

First off I will start with the pain management clinic. They said Jeff could take mild muscle relaxers and wear a prescribed patch on his back that has some numbing medication in it. He uses the patches, but not the muscle relaxers. His primary physician said that he would up his pain medication to help with the back pain. Between the patches and the upgrade in pain medication his back is doing fine today. Of course he is playing golf enjoying every non-pain moment.
We had the CT scan check up and his blood work looks great. His hemoglobin and hematocrit are on the low side, but still rising. This means that he is still a little anemic.
Jeff talked to Dr. C. about his back pain and said that it has gradually been getting worse and that his hands and feet are still numb. Jeff pointed out the spot in his back and Dr. C. ordered an MRI for the lumbar area of his back, which is different from the last area they did of his thoracic area. Here is a Web site to click on to see the different locations.

The CT scan showed clear in all areas previously with cancer, but there is a 5 mm spot in his lung that has shown up. Dr. C. is not convinced that it is cancer and said that we will have to wait until his next check up at the end of August to see what the spot does. If it grows he might want a biopsy, but it just depends on what the results are of the next CT scan. Dr. C. said that he has seen spots appear in the lungs before that never grow or have even disappear. It is not something that seems too uncommon.
I know that some of you are choking on your heart right now, but try to remember the Youngs have defied odds before and kind of always have an experience with the strange. Jeff is also a stubborn Irish as everyone knows, so if you are swallowing your heart take a deep breath and realize he has a lot on his side supporting the no cancer theory.
